Outside in Mi (and outside my door)

The title of my blog is Outside in Mi. This is a pic outside my door today. Its March 31st, just 2 hours 15 minutes to April 1st. What sort of April Fools Joke is 5 feet of snow outside my door ??????????? COME ON !!!!!!!!! The snow seems to be sticking around much longer than usual this year. (Might have something to do with over 180 inches of it accumulating.)

Munising Falls in WINTER

This waterfall is always the first stop for the GHS XC team camp every summer and I havent been here in a while so Andrew and I headed up for a quick 24 hour trip to check it out. Other pics are some SWEET ice formations out on GRAND ISLAND.

Grand Island icicles and caves

So ... Andrew and I decided, very spontaneously, to drive to Munising and check out some ICE formations. The Pictured Rocks cliffs ooze water all winter, it freezes and creates HUGE ice formations hanging from them. The easiest access is from Sand Point, walk across the lake (SUPERIOR) directly to them. It was 32 degrees when we left and after 3 hours of exploring it was nearing 45 degrees in bright sun. Perfect day.

yes, its true, Gaylord Michigan snow total for the 2008-2009 winter is at 165 inches as of March 8th. I thought we were losing snow and headed to spring then last night we got a solid 10 inches of heavy snow. time to snowblow. Bear got out the sled with boden and the girls and did some serious sledding in the yard. He was also impressed that he could actually touch the roof with his sled. that's a lotta snow.
